Mystery of the Stacked Stones
Hi, I  want to tell you about something mysterious that my husband found along the banks of the St. Mary's River in  Aspen, Guysborough County, Nova Scotia.
He found some curious piles of stacked stones going back from the river in a semi-circle.There are about 30 to 40 piles of them. They have  3 piles close together, which are spaced about 45 feet apart. They look like graves, but there is no known cemetery there. People from Sweden say the Vikings were there, as there are old graves in Sweden like that. This is yet to be confirmed. Some think the stones were a make-shift fort used by soldiers to hide behind in time of war, to protect from soldiers coming up the river. The French had a fur-trading post in Sherbrooke in 1755, but were driven out by the English. There is a root cellar close by, but the only known settler there would have had to cross a raging brook in wintertime to get to the root cellar. I will share with you some of the pictures I have taken. My name is Maisie42 and my e-mail is [email protected]
Please feel free to e-mail me and give me your comments/ideas on this page.
