| South Strip neighbors at this corner of the strip include MGM Grand, New York New York, Excalibur. Hooters, Luxor, Mandalay Bay and the Monte Carlo are close by. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Check the Trop's own website specials for good rates. Watch out! $5 "resort fee" added to room rates. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Garden rooms are the cheapest, yet are the most charming and most have balconies. These hark back to the '50s. The trade-off is older furnishings and noisier well trafficked hallways. Island Tower is about $10 more for more spacious rooms and big tubs; however, it's at the far rear of the property. Priciest rooms in the Paradise Tower which is convenient at the front of the property, but that's about all I can say that's good about them. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Mid-size casino is pretty dull, and despite the Rat-Pack reputation, you probably won't feel too old-school here, just old. One token $5 blackjack table. This is one of the last casinos with slot machines dispensing actual coins instead of tickets. The new owners are upgrading the machines to tickets. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| CASINO ++ |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This is where you come if you want maximum pool for minimum prices. No other place with rates this low has a pool and garden area like this. It's the best feature of the hotel. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Coffee shop is fine, if a little pricey. For quick eats, you'll need to head to MGM Grand or Excalibur food courts. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| WALKING DISTANCE ++++ |

| MGM Grand, NYNY, Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, Hooters, Monte Carlo, However, you'll be somewhat distant from the best shopping opportunities at Caesars, Venetian, and Aladdin. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| It smells funny in here. Some of the stairways are so steep it's scary. When someone closes a door to their hotel room, the other 1799 rooms seem to feel the vibration. They're keeping the "Paradise" and "Island" Towers and tearing down the low-rise garden rooms...it really should be the other way around. It's your last chance for a taste of old-style Vegas accomodations. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| PEEVES --- |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Definitely still beats the other Rat Pack Era hotels: Sahara, Riviera, Frontier. Its superior grounds and pool area are better than its newer, similarly priced neighbor, Excalibur. But Excalibur is more youthful, varied, and provides easier access to neighboring attractions at NYNY and the Luxor. For a few dollars more, you will get something similar, but spiffier and more centrally located at the FLAMINGO. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Good value for a full-service hotel. at the nicest corner of the strip, although if it's your first trip you might spend less time and energy getting to-and-from by staying at the Center Strip near Flamingo Road, especially if you like to shop. It fits nicely for a return-trip to Vegas when you are on a budget. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
