| Next-door neighbors are Mandalay Bay and Excalibur. You're a quick walk or tram ride from the Tropicana Avenue intersection landmarks MGM Grand, New York New York, and Tropicana. Hooters, and the Monte Carlo are close by. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| LOCATION +++++ |
||||||||||||||||||||
| Check the Luxor website for good rates and specials. Be careful, because Luxor is one of the few sites that occasionally has specials that are non-changeable and non-refundable. Otherwise, reservations through the site have the liberal 48 - 72 hour cancellation policy with full deposit refunds. | ||||||||||||||||||||

| Even at 12 years old, I still like the furnishings in the Pyramid. Of course, they are a little worn now, but not necessarily dated. The drapes, which must cover the slanted windows, are naturally malfunction-prone. Bathrooms have showers only. In the newer towers, the rooms and furnishings are somewhat newer, nicer, and have full-size bath tubs. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| ROOMS +++ - ++++ |

| Big casino, and you'll need to bring some money, as there are no $5 tables here. The slot machines are at least as tight as any strip casino, and cocktail waitresses are sparse if you're not at the bigger money machines.. MGM Players club card means your comps from here are good at other MGM properties. | ||||||||||||||||||||

| I've seen this ranked as one of the top ten pools in Vegas, but I think it's just above average, although it is quite large. It is not as nice as MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo, orthe Tropicana, but they are among the nicest in town. | ||||||||||||||||||||

| Adequate free parking in the garage; during busy times you may have to drive around awhile or venture way to the back. Unlike its sister/neighbor Excalibur, the parking garage is connected directly to the rest of the property by a covered walkway. Being far south and near the Tropicana Avenue intersection, car access is pretty good by strip standards. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| PARKING +++ |

| No mind blowing roller coaster or grand dancing water fountain, but lots going on. Outside, see the world's largest beam of light that is emitted from the top of the pyramid each night, and inside see a full replica of King Tut's Tomb, IMAX shows, and virtual reality rides that fill the atrium can keep the youthful among us occupied for awhile. Since the Broadway show "Hairspray" bombed here in 2006, they've had a string of famous "Spotlight" headliners to fill the theater, there's an obligatory T&A show, and, ladies and gentlemen...Carrot Top (hence the 5+ rating.) | ||||||||||||||||||||
| ATTRACTIONS AND SHOWS ++++++ |

| FOOD +++ |
||||||||||||||||||||
| Decent food court has a familiar selection of fast foods, including Quiznos and McDonalds, among others. Pharoah's Pheast Buffet is for those who are too hungry to wait or walk anywhere else. No one makes the trip here for this spread. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| WALKING DISTANCE +++ |
||||||||||||||||||||
| MGM Grand, NYNY, Mandalay Bay, Excalibur, Tropicana, Hooters, Monte Carlo. However, you'll be somewhat distant from the best shopping opportunities at Caesars, Venetian, and Aladdin. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| -Even their McDonald's serves Pepsi. (Last time I was there.) Don't fret, Excalibur's McD's has Coke. -Several times I've lost in well in excess of $100 at the tables before a cocktail waitress came by or before a pit-boss even picked up my player's card. Since then I never use my card at MGM-Mirage-MB tables. |

| Luxor an is a good bet for slight touch of luxury and class without overdoing it. The nearby NYNY is probably a little newer and nicer, as may be the Aladdin and Paris. If you want something nicer but more low-key for a similar price, take a look at Monte Carlo. Beats Harrah's and the Flamingo but is definitely a step below Mandalay Bay and MGM Grand. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| ATTRIBUTES +++++ |
||||||||||||||||||||
| Just a little more expensive, but just a little nicer, just a little trendier, a little younger than the Tropicana, crowd just a little older than the Palms. Overall, just a little better for just a little more. | ||||||||||||||||||||
