"The Queen
City". Mighty Ohio river. Cincinnati was in
1850 the greatest city of the region with 115.000
inhabitants. "Porcópolis" was named in
that time, because the existence
of great stockyards and meatpacking.
An elegant city, "german
style", with blocks and well designed
buildings upstairs riverfront, all centralized by
Fountain Square as you can see in this old
photo of a bustling day in 1920. Of course the
"Tyler Davidson Fountain" (A. Kreling,
1871) still stands.

Union Station (1933)
|
Cincinnati was a railroad hub, with more than 6 trunk
lines and depots, that merged into a great and
spectacular Union Station (1933), at that time the
greatest of America. Now, since 1990, is a beautiful
museum complex.
Mount Adams, Xavier University, the chemical companies
well-known worldwide (Procter & Gamble, Avon) are
some of the many landmarks that makes Cincinnati an
"All American City", one of the best cities in
America to live.
