NZ Canoe Polo welcomes new Executive Director by Rosemary Wright, NZCPA Executive Director. 13 December 2004 "My main aim is to try to keep the management of New Zealand Canoe Polo on an even keel during Marees absence. Essentially I see my role as coordinating the efforts of the great team of people already volunteering considerable time to assist at all levels of the sport with team selections, coaching, funding, tournament organisation etc. All of whom are giving so much back to the sport while at the same time juggling their own study, careers and training programmes. A significant component of this will involve working closely with newly appointed squad manager Barbara Anderson and the very supportive Board members. "It is going to be a very busy year for New Zealand Canoe Polo, as on top of the usual schedule of national league and schools tournaments there are over a dozen selection and training camps scheduled, the New Zealand womens team to compete at the World Games in Germany (July 2005) and the hosting of the second Oceania Canoe Polo Championships in Christchurch (September/October 2005). "Currently on the boil is a hectic schedule of New Zealand men's and women's selection and training camps. On the management side, one of the bigger projects is the establishment of a database of all players that will eventually assist in improving communications between the regions and enabling easy access to up-to-date stats on player numbers for funding purposes. Another priority will be to ensure continued recognition and promotion of the sport. "Please feel free to get in touch, all suggestions or offers of help with any of the above gratefully received! Please send in any snippets of news and information to go into the New Zealand Canoe Polo Update newsletter and for use on the website. Email [email protected] Keep an eye out for me - I'm looking forward to meeting many of you during the year at various events." |
