| I guess no one can tell from my shrine here that I am a Dressage enthusiast! I think that Dressage is a work of art, and the most beautiful thing that a human can do with an animal. Some people find it boring, but when I watch Anky Von Grunsven ride a Grand Prix test, it makes every hair on my body stand on end and brings tears to my eyes... My horse us a 13 year old Newfoundland mare named Terra Nova. She is a 15.3 hand bay. Nova is kind, intelligent, and forgiving...and Lord knows I've needed her patience! When I bought her last year, she had spent her life as a Canadian logging horse, thus she is A LOT stronger in her forehand than in the hind. We spent the Summer working with our trainer, Georgia Clarke of Riverbend Farm, to lighten up Nova's forehand and get her balanced and working from underneath. This was not always easy, but Nova always made it pleasant. The Summer saw much success and at the end, Nova was making herself round and soft on the bit. Special thanks are due here to Georgia, who worked with me and my horse tirelessly...WE LOVE YOU G! We still have a long road ahead, but we are having fun. This Spring holds great new things in store for Nova and I as we are ready to do a little more this year. Look out for us at the local shows, and for me on my NEW horse (whose identity is yet to be established)...do not worry...Nova will be with me forever. |
