----------------------------------------------------------------------- GAME OVERVIEW
----------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a menu-driven, text based professional wrestling simulation, based
on a pencil-and-paper game system, Champions of the Galaxy, by Filsinger Games. I wrote it strictly for my own personal use but would like to make a better, more in-depth version and hopefully market it, as Shareware at least, with tag team, specialty matches and other must-have features.
To be honest, the game has a few bugs, but for the most part it it works
reasonably well. You may have problems editing or creating wrestlers, and
some of the other functions are disabled, but this version is really only to
give you an idea of what the game is like anyway, so I think it is complete
enough to serve this purpose.
After you unzip the MNEVNT10.ZIP file onto your computer, the first thing
you should do is read this (which is how I hope you've arrived here), though
its not absolutely necessary. The game includes two executable files and a
slew of data and configuration files, ALL of which must be in the same sub-
directory for the game to work. Note that although you can create your own wrestlers, I suggest playing the game with the existing wrestlers first so
you'll have an idea of how the game works, since you may encounter a few
problems with the edit feature. I recommend that you load up PLAY.EXE and play a couple of matches and then, if you like, quit and try out EDITGUY.EXE to edit or make your own wrestlers.
The first screen that comes up is the STABLE screen for Player One - this
means that pressing ENTER will take you to a list of wrestlers belonging to
the highlighted STABLE. You then choose a wrestler from that list and do the
same for Player Two. When you have selected both wrestlers, the game will
go to the Entrance/Introduction Screen. After you have read this, press any
key to begin the match.
From here, the match will proceed totally at random according to the
wrestlers' moves and defenses, until one of the following results occur: one
or both wrestlers are counted out of the ring or disqualified, one of the
wrestlers is pinned, submits, or the referee stops the match due to a time-
limit draw or a decision move, such as a sleeper hold. Note that pressing the
ESCAPE key from the Main Menu will end the game.
As far as editing and creating new wrestlers goes, you should edit one of
the existing wrestlers so you can see how the edit feature is set up. The
page up and page down keys cycle through the different aspects of a selected
wrestler's statistics. I can almost assure you that you'll encounter trouble
if you try to edit or create moves, so unless you're confident you can fix
whatever happens, or don't like the game enough to care, don't mess with that
part of the edit feature.

----------------------------------------------------------------------- ABOUT THE MAIN EVENT
----------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally, I compiled the version included here and put it on a floppy
disk and stored it; I then continued to add to the program and had almost
completely finished it, when my computer crashed. I lost the original code
and the new compiled version forever and only had this puny, shell of its
future self remaining, so I have decided to upload it to the Internet so I
can at least get some feedback on it.
You are free to distribute this game and the files that go with it as long
as this documentation file is kept, unretouched, with the rest of the game.
