The Maine Department of Conservation's Forestry Service (Also known as "Forest Rangers") operate on a fairly new VHF-Hi repeater system. The repeaters are high power and have very good range. The Forest Service trucks have new radios in them, and have 160 channel capacity. They have the capacity to operate on the above repeaters, as well as many direct channels, all in the 159 MHz range. You'll also hear them on Statewide Fire (154.310) and a lot of local channels.
