S.T. Shannon of Saco, trader sold to Stephen Fletcher of Saco, fisherman for $25.00 one-quarter acre of land with the buildings on the road leading to the beach 8 Oct. 1838.(1)
On 24 Sept. 1855 Stephen bought 10 acres on Ferry Road in Saco from John H. Gowen of Saco. The deed was signed by John and Betsy Gowen and witnessed by Obadiah Durgin and Lucy B. Gowen.(2)
Stephen was listed in the 1840, 1850 and 1870 census reports for Saco along with his family. His occupation was given as laborer. Stephen was listed in the 1870 directory for Biddeford and Saco as living on 100 Ferry Road.(4)
