| Moose Facts: (ALCES alces gigas) An adult bull moose can stand over 7 feet tall from the ground to the top of his antlers. Moose calves weigh about 30 pounds at birth. Calves grow to 300 pounds five months after their birth. A bull moose can weigh up to 1,600 pounds. An adult female can weigh up to 1,300 pounds. An adult moose eats between 40 - 60 pounds of vegetation each day. An old moose is about 15 years old. Cow moose give birth to twins between 15 % and 75 % of the time. A cow moose carries her unborn calf or calves for about 230 days. Antlers from an adult moose can weigh up to 75 pounds. An average bull supplies about 500 pounds of meat. |
