"Obituary. Frederick C. Hamlin. The death of Frederick Cutting Hamlin, only son of Dr. and Mrs. A. C. Hamlin, which occurred Monday morning at 6 o'clock at his home on French Street, was a severe shock and sad surprise to many friends of the young man, and much sympathy was expressed for the sorrowing family. He was taken ill over a week ago with a cold which developed into a bilious attack and later typhoid fever and heart disturbance which was the cause of death."

"Dr. A. C. Hamlin of Bangor, who is president of the Mount Mica Mining Company and George W. Hammond of Yarmouthville, who is agent of the Forest Paper Company, were in town a few days last week and amused themselves by helping to remove a big deposit of mammoth tourmalines at Mount Mica. These are something a little different from what has previously been excavated there and valuable for cabinet specimens.
   L. B. Merrill is working Mount Mica this season on shares for the company. Mr. Stone is not mining this year." (July 7, 1896, Oxford Democrat).
