On Saturday, November 7th and Sunday, November
8th Palm Springs, CA had their annual Gay Pride Festival and Parade. It was a bright sunny
day Palm Springs day. A very large full city block was the site of the festival that has 4
gay bars, a gay superstore and a gay theater. With over 80 vendors at the festival there
were plenty of choices to find just what you were looking for. This year was the most
successful Pride ever put on by the Greater Palm Springs Pride organization. In town
performing in various bars were the TROOPERS, WEST HOLLYWOOD CHEERLEADERS and the SAN
DIEGO GAY MEN'S CHORUS. Appearing at the Festival JASON STUART, RANDY RIGGS, MICHAEL
GREER, MARK PETERS AND MADAME and many more.
Sunday at 11am the Parade began. With a bit of drizzle in the air the biggest crowd ever
for Pride didn't care. With 62 entries to the parade, it took approximately 1 hour to
complete. Floats from local and out of areas were plenty. Santa Claus came even earlier
then usual, when he appeared at the end of the parade.
Thanks to the Board of Greater Palm Springs Pride for making this the best one ever! Board
members are: C.J. (president), Newd D. (V.P. and in charge of parade), Dorothy T. (vendor
coordinator), Bolinda T. (site coordinator), Jim H (talent coordinator) and Steve. Maybe
we'll see you all next year!
