Additional Historical Jesus list

containing verses that I judge aren't relevant enough to be on the main list but still might be helpful.

Romans:

1:4 and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.

2:16 This will take place on the day when God will judge men's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.

4:24; 10:9 (Jesus no Christ)24but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness--for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.

9That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

4:25 He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.

Jesus was "delivered over". While this fits nicely with the Gospel presentation of Judas’ betrayal, it is unclear that there is a reasonable "spiritual" alternative understanding for this.

8:1515For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."

12:14; 13:1-4; 13:6-7; 13:8-10 (Gospel teaching)

14Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.

6This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. 7Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

8Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. 9The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet,"[1] and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself."[2] 10Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

15:88For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews[2] on behalf of God's truth, to confirm the promises made to the patriarchs

1 Corinthians:

1:23 23but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,

2:22For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.

4:12-1312We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; 13when we are slandered, we answer kindly. Up to this moment we have become the scum of the earth, the refuse of the world.

5:7Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast--as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.

9:9 9For it is written in the Law of Moses: "Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain."

10:16-1716Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? 17Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf.

11:20 20When you come together, it is not the Lord's Supper you eat,

2 Corithians:

4:10,11,14 (Jesus without C or L)10We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body. 14because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence.

5:21 21God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

13:4 Crucified 4For to be sure, he was crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God's power. Likewise, we are weak in him, yet by God's power we will live with him to serve you.

Galatians

3:11You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified.

3:13 13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree."

3:24 So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ [or: until Christ came] that we might be justified by faith.

4:6 6Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba,[1] Father."

4:29 29At that time the son born in the ordinary way persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now.

5:14 14The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself."[

5:24 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.

Ephesians:

1:7,13 7In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace 13And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,

2:14

2:16

4:21 (J no C)21Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.

Philippians:

2:10 (J no C)10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

3:18 cross18For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ.

Colossians:

1:20 20and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

1 Thess

1:1010and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead--Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.

3:2 (G of C unlike 2:2 & 2:8)2We sent Timothy, who is our brother and God's fellow worker[1] in spreading the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith,

4:2 2For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

5:22for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

5:15 GT 15Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.

2 Thess

1:8 8He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.

3:10 GT For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat."

3:12 ??12Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the bread they eat.

1 Tim

2:66who gave himself as a ransom for all men--the testimony given in its proper time.

5:18 GTFor the Scripture says, "Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain,"[2] and "The worker deserves his wages."[

2 Timothy:

1:10 but it [God's grace] has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

Titus:

3:4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared,

Hebrews

4:14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.

4:15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are--yet was without sin.

5:1-101Every high priest is selected from among men and is appointed to represent them in matters related to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. 2He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he himself is subject to weakness. 3This is why he has to offer sacrifices for his own sins, as well as for the sins of the people.
4No one takes this honor upon himself; he must be called by God, just as Aaron was. 5So Christ also did not take upon himself the glory of becoming a high priest. But God said to him,
"You are my Son;
today I have become your Father" 6And he says in another place,
"You are a priest forever,
in the order of Melchizedek."
7During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. 8Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered 9and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him 10and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.

7:27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.

9:26 Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.

10:10,1210And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.12But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.

10:1919Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,

James:

2:88If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, "Love your neighbor as yourself,"[1] you are doing right.

3:66The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
5:66You have condemned and murdered innocent men, who were not opposing you.

2 Peter:

3:1010But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.[1]

1 John

2:33We know that we have come to know him [Jesus] if we obey his commands.

5:20 We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true--even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
