Dear Friends and Family,

No time for cuteness this year (except in our pictures, of course). We're just sending a quick summary:

1. Edwardsville, IL, which is 20 miles east of St. Louis, MO, has been our hometown for almost 18 months now. Some of our favorite things about living here are the number of things we can walk to in downtown Edwardsville, Paul's short commute to the university, the local farmer's market and the abundant fun things for kids to do in St. Louis.

2. Tennyson turned one in October. He walks all around the house and babbles often. He enjoys playing with Adrienne most of the time and loves to wrestle with anyone who will. He smiles often and likes to growl ferociously.

3. Adrienne turned four in May. She is in preschool three days a week and takes part in  a brief 'basement school' (with Paul) on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. She loves books, playgrounds, dinosaurs, robots, and all things scientific. She is a great help to her Mom and likes to make Tennyson laugh.

4. Katherine turned 31 in July. She gardens, updates baby books and edits family videos. But most of her time she spends keeping the kids happy or at least minimizing their misery. Occasionally she thinks about painting the walls but prefers to just stare at them.

5. Paul turned 32 in June. He divides most of his time between playing with the kids and professing psychology. (See this page for a summary of recent research.) In what time remains he weaves elaborate justifications for why such-and-such home improvement should wait a while longer.

6. Visitors entertained us throughout the year. Katherine's sister Allison and her family visited from GA twice, most recently over Thanksgiving. Paul's parents and Mark (aka Nathan) Gibson visited from ID in June. Katherine's sister Anne visited from NY in October, and her brother Tyler stopped by in August. We also had several memorable visits from home repair professionals.

7. Trips this year included stops in Chicago (site of a psychology conference), Marietta, GA (home of Katherine's parents), Ellisville, MO (home of Katherine's Uncle Art and Aunt Mary Sue just west of St. Louis) and Port St. Joe, FL (site of Katherine's family's reunion).
