Goodwill/Park West/IVJC Project

Goodwill Services of Southern California, in conjunction with Inland Valleys Justice Center (IVJC) and IVAMS, proposes a special night for disadvantaged youth in the Pomona area.  Current seated judges and retired IVAMS judge panelists in the San Bernardino and Los Angeles Counties will give these students a behind-the-scenes look at the life and duties of a judge; including an overall explanation of their job and the pros and cons of a life in the legal profession.

Most disadvantaged youth have very little contact with any members of the legal profession and meeting a judge would be a very special experience for them.  In addition to giving the participants real-life role models to admire and aspire after, students will be provided the opportunity of being exposed to a wide variety of career choices.  Becoming a judge or lawyer may have been an option that was only once thought about, but perhaps this inspiring presentation will give these students the confidence to pursue their dream.

Goodwill have already graciously offered the space and advertising for the event, Park West will be promoting and attending the event through the coordination of Douglas Perez.  IVJC and IVAMS will contact the judges and ask them to take part, as well as provide refreshments.
