Why it must be unicorn?

Because, unicorn are dignity, friendly (like Unico, a kind of story (cartoon) written by a Japanese man) , joyful, and brave also it's a one of legendary animal in Greek. It has wings to fly, yes freedom they mean. We've freedom to do everything (but with legality ;)
