How To Read Tab *************** Ok..... This is important because if you cant read tab then you cant play 99.9% of the stuff out on the internet. So if you just starting to learn guitar and arent taking lessons, your screwed if you dont got a good ear. Its rather simple to read. The lines represent the strings and the numbers represent the frets that you play. Usually people try to incorperate the rythym into it as well. The bits closer together have less time in between them. The bits that are far apart have more time in between them. An example would be: e|-989898989-|.... that would be fast. e|-9--8--9--8--9--8... that would be slow. They also have symbols in them... they're usually the same in most tabs. ********************* b= bend r= release ^= harmonic t= tap *= means either trill or harmonic.. depends how used in song. /= slide up \= slide down x= palm mute h= hammer on p= pull off v= vibrato ~= vibrato (this is frequently used when you hit a harmonic as well) Strings e|-----------------| B|-----------------| G|-----------------| D|-----------------| A|-----------------| E|-----------------| Chord e|-----------------| B|-----------------| G|-----------------| D|-2---------------| A|-2---------------| E|-0---------------| Single Notes e|--9-8-9----------| B|--------7-8-9----| G|--------------0--| D|-----------------| A|-----------------| E|-----------------| Any questions, mqes666@hotmail.com. Hope this helped, rock on! Mark
