Pentatonic Scale Lesson By: Mark Monahan Email: mqes666@hotmail.com *************************** The pentatonic scale is a scale commonly used as the base of many rock and blues solos. A lot of Ace Frehley's solos as well as Randy Rhoads' solos are based on it, with a few extra note's thrown in. They basically follow paterns that can be moved up and down the neck. Patern 1 (most common one) |-------------------------------5--8--| |-------------------------5--8--------| |-------------------5--7--------------| |-------------5--7--------------------| |-------5--7--------------------------| |-5--8--------------------------------| Patern 2 |---------------------------0-3--| |----------------------0-3-------| |-----------------0-2------------| |------------0-2-----------------| |-------0-3----------------------| |--0-3---------------------------| Pantern 3 |---------------------------2-5--| |----------------------3-5-------| |-----------------2-5------------| |------------2-5-----------------| |-------3-5----------------------| |--3-5---------------------------|
