    Former Cabinet Minister Roger M. Chongwe, is a Zambian lawyer and businessman who was born October 2, 1940. He is married Gwenda Fay Eaton in 1967 and the two have a daughter and a son. He holds several law degrees from the University of Zambia and the Western Australia School of Law. He owns R.M.A. Chongwe & Co. He has served on several local and international organizations and as was once director of Standard Bank. In 1991 he was appointed Minister of Local Government and Housing. But he quit because of policy differences with the president. He then formed his own party. As leader the opposition Liberal Progressive Front, Chongwe has been a target of attacks. He was shot and wounded in 1997 by police officers during a political rally.
