"Maia" is short for Himaya Amarantha. 
Himaya means "glory" in Visayan.
Amarantha, which is also a family of
everlasting flowers, 
symbolizes eternal life. 

My Amà and Inà both speak Visayan 
and are fond of symbols and such,
hence my name. 

I was born at 8:02 in the morning of
Valentine’s Day 2004. 
I weighed 7lbs & 5oz and was 20.5 inches in length.

Both my parents think
I’m the best Valentine’s day gift
they have ever received.

My Amà is Cris Gaerlan
and my Inà is Victoria Kapauan-Gaerlan.
