1. Navtex.xls is a spread sheet that i have made that lets you feed in your ships present position and then will give you all the various navtex transmitters within range. The options available are in the form of macros buttons

a) If you click 518khz then it will filter out all the rest of the local language tx's as well as the other 2 frequency tx's

b) If you click all freq / all language button then it will give you all the transmitters within range.

c) If you click "click and specify range manually" then it will give you stations within the range that you specify and not the range specified by alrs. eg, on our run from the persian gulf to colombo, we were unable to get any navtex stations within range, so if you want to specify ranges in excess of the recommended ones then click and enter the ranges manually........else leave the box without a tick.

If you want to view the table where all the stations are then click on "NAVAREA 1" and all the rest of the navarea headings and the hyperlink will take you to the table of transmitters.

The list of transmitters was last updated in june 2002 and i will do so again in december or early jan but so far it is very accurate.

The ranges from the vessel to the tx's is a great circle distance.

4. Shift.xls : This spreadsheet creates stickers of the vessels profile with reference to the chart size, especially useful with large scale charts and vessels. It also allows the navigator to visualise the shift in the datum.
