About IPCI IPCI Malaysia is a Muslim da'wa organisation based in Penang, Malaysia. It was established back in 1994 by Bro. Kamarudin Abdullah (a Catholic revert to Islam) with a few other Muslim individuals. It is presently located in the precincts of the Kapitan Keling Mosque, the second oldest mosque in the State ( picture above). This historical mosque, uniquely constructed in the Indian Mogul architecture, draws scores of visitors from around the world every day. So while the visitors enjoy the sight, members of IPCI Malaysia take this golden opportunity to preach to them the message of Al-Islam. The visitors are explained about the functions of the mosque (as a house of prayer and an Islamic social centre), the meaning behind the Muslim prayer (solah, ablution, etc) and about general issues concerning Islam (see pictures 2 & 3). At the same time the many misconceptions and prejudices which they entertain are also removed and the correct information is supplied. Here is the summary of our mission and the objectives for establishing IPCI: Organize more frequent public lectures, debates on Islam and comparative religion nationwide, regionally and perhaps internationally, Insha' Allah. Set up more IPCI resource centres all over Malaysia, especially in major mosques, which may also become tourist attractions. Organize missionary training programs for individuals and interested agencies. Organize courses (including diploma level) on Fardhu' Ain, Arabic, Qur'an recitation, Islamic history, etc. Place effective advertisements on Islam and the Qur'an in Malay and English through attractive billboards, TV and radio trailers, newspapers and magazines. Al-Qur'an Project: distribute free copies of the Holy Qur'an to schools, colleges, universities, public libraries, hospitals, prisons, etc. Muallaf Project: IPCI Malaysia endeavors to extend full assistance to new Muslim converts, this may be in the form of social or financial help, coaching, training and counseling. |
