First and foremost as soon as you get to know you are admitted to a university
start pressurizing them to send the i20 as soon as possible if they haven't already
send them. Say that it takes undue time for a letter to reach India� and so on� and be
patient when it takes time to reach India because they most probably would be sending
it by ordinary post. Again try to pressurize them to send it by speed post or courier.
Then plan how u r going to show your finances. According to accepted norms they expect you to show first years expenses in the form of readily available cash ( i.e savings bank account or fixed deposit) and the second years expense in the form of convertible funds or available income( i.e provident fund, parents income other income and stuff). Never say you expect to get a financial aid when you get there and you will survive with that� but if you are asked if you would take a financial aid if offered do say you would. If you are planning to take an educational loan� realize it is a bit of time consuming process. Any amount over 4 lakhs requires you to promise property against the loan. And for that you have to get it evaluated by the evaluator of the bank. And then you need to get a legal opinion from the banks lawyer. Again the procedures vary from bank to bank. So go to your bank and tell them you need a loan for so much amount and they would guide you through out the process. All I can assure you is that it takes time so start well early. Now they would say they can proceed only after hey see your i20. Take you email print our and the cost from the univ website to them and tell them that you would get them the i20 as soon as you get that and you are just trying to get the other docs ready by that time. Plead with them and, make them understand how mush of urgency is involved.
Then you need to make sure you have all the docs. Go through the list of docs I have attached and make sure you have all of them.
Your need to take an online appointment for your visa before you go. And towards the peak time this would be completely full. So make sure you book your dates atleast 2 to 3 weeks in advance. At the visa interview make sure you speak little and only when you are spoken to, and answer the question short and to the point. And eventually it is all fate that decides where you go� so pray really really hard!!!
