Walsh Set to return to Competition
With the closley approaching Cricket season, Walsh looks set to find some new found cravings for competition, and what a better way to do so than a 2 on 2 tournament. Walsh should once again team with myself to reclaim our sheild as the 2 on 2 great side of 1.FC Schmartienhiemer VKB Athletic.

J.Haymes Shield
Sonof Boggit Cup could make way for the J.Haymes Shield
Given that the next mini soccer comp looks set to be played in Steve Curtains backyard, the competition will need to be scaled down to 2 on 2. If this is to be done than a new title should be made called the J.Haymes Shield. Just a thought!

Job Prospects look likely at Hungry Jacks
Hungry Jacks have just been reported as interviewing potential new staff members. One of those to recieve an interview was Mark Nilon who after sitting in the unemployment bracket since leaving school now looks set to get a job at the fast food resturant. From inside information Mark put in a good show and looks set to join fellow CCB students Rob Deacon and Scot Walsh on the job.

Welcome to the Real world of Football
Following the Article published on Curts Glory titled "No one wants to know about Division One" There is really only one thing to be said. "Welcome to the real world" I have been through the struggle of trying to find results on Division one soccer, as I barrack for Birmingham City. That's what you get in Australia and that's what you'll have to live with

Howley, Harris back 2 on 2 return
Champion players Joel Howley and Michael Harris officially backed the call for the rein station of 2 on 2 Sonof Boggit Cups. The call comes after Maher on Monday suggested the move could be what the game needs to recapture the excitement. On the opposing side Tony Dreschler has gone against the Idea and is well and truly backed by Steve Curtain.
The search will continue for a new idea to liven up the game which many have called 'boring' over the past few weeks.

Cricket Season comes around again.

Just as you get comfortable for the Footy season, you find its all most over, on a local level that is. Now the question begs will I be  putting on the pads again this year. Well it will be my 11th season of cricket a long time for a young fella. There is still a couple of months for me to decide but one question begs will Walsh be rolling the arm over agin this season. Columbans' recent drop in form may signal the end to the B grade express bowler. But my gut feeling says he will be wearing the whites once again.

Also on the topic of Cricket the full comprehensive stats for each cricket match played are now available to download here

Push for the recall of 2 on 2 Sonof's under way

Of late, big names of the game have declared that they are losing interest in the game. This is very unfortunate seeing that two of the games greats in Howley and Harris are also among this category. One feels that this could be because of the change to 3 on 3. You would imagine that Howley and Harris would much prefer to play as a duo rather than calling on the services of Walsh or Lougoon etc. As a double they would be a formidable line up.
So the point will be put forward to revert the format back to 2 on 2 and for the next tournament to be played in Steves' Backyard. His pitch size would suit the 2 on 2 better then 3 on 3 and it should be considered.
Stay tuned of the coming weeks for more.

One man who has slipped under our guard
In the early days of Steven Curtains Curts Glory Website, a lot of attention was paid towards the man pictured Michael Sitch. The man has not been sighted for over a month leading to suspicions that he may have disappeared form the lime light. It's unfortunate but Maher on Monday would like to step up the campaign and just remind you to be on the lookout for Sitch and if you do in fact see him let Curts know.

Lambert through to next round of 200m Sprint at Games

St Therese's ex-pat Chris Lambert has finished first in his 200m heat at the Commonwealth Games overnight. While looking a little darker skinned and representing England the bloke showed some good form. (More than likely was just a name sake and probably wasn't the same person.)

Walsh's Reason Finally Revealed to Public
Columban Walsh has said that his reason for not turning up to the Sonof Boggit Cup is because of lack of interest. This is unfortunate for one of the games most successful players who some believe has played his last game. His point of view was also shared by his former team mates in Harris and Howley. It is a sign of the times changing, but the show will go on with many new faces coming into the game it has never looked better. Hopefully for those older players the flame can be relight and the passion restored for this great game.

Walsh it May be time to call it a day
I hate to say it but unless something is done in the next month it may be all over for the tall funny man from Mc Ivor Ridge. It is really sad that such a potentialy great mind of our time may be lost to the underworld of TAFE. I put it to anyone to make contact with him and report back to either myself or Steve and let us now how you went, other wise I may have to go in and do it myself.

Four mobile phones is just a crowd
After recent talks with Lachlan Fraser he stated that he is the owner of 4 fully working mobile phones. Before you start saying what a joke, just think this is Fraser we are talking about. He also said that one of his phones was destroyed after he was put into a bath while trying to be sobered up. Believe what you want but remember it is Fraser so make up your own mind.

Kingsley deserves top honours over Indoor Lloyd
As mentioned the other day the Essendon game has became sterile due to there large amount of games indoors. Well Matthew Lloyds stats tell the tale. He averages around 5 goals indoors and around 3 goals outdoors. Kent Kingsley and David Neitz have kicked the majority of there goals in outdoor and sometimes blustery conditions. If Kingsley wasn't the better forward than Llyod so far this year well he must be now after last nights demolition job. Kinglseys' 6 and Lloyd charity 3 were evidence enough.

The Big Monday on Monday coming on Monday
Country Footy, Pig on a spit and Remember when will all be updated as well as an article on Walsh, plus an article on Harris and Howley coming up this Monday, so make sure you check it out. Also what do you want to see. Please if you want send me some ideas about what you want to see.
Country Footy will this week feature Sonof Boggit star Pat O'Brien as I travel to Tooleen for the match between Mounts and LBU.

Bombers want to play indoors because there scared of the cold
Ever thought that maybe the bombers playing style has become "sterile" well it appears that way. Playing the majority of its home games at Colonial stadium under a closed roof has appeared to make them weaker when it comes to playing footy the way it is supposed to be.

Those Decisions I made
Everyone who participated in the last Sonof Boggit Cup would know that there was some problems over the quality of refereeing, I agree, so I will now explain the reasons behind some of those controversial decisions that I made.
Perhaps the one that caused the biggest uproar was the handball in front of goal that went unnoticed. I was blinded by another player so I was unable to see the incident.
The decision that I now wish I could take back was the sending off of McQualter who interfered with a player who was taking a free kick. He deservered a yellow at the most.
If there are any further enquiries please feel free to email me or leave a message on the guestbook.

Collins says "I want in"
He asked for it and now he is going to get it. Jason Collins last night stated his interest in participating in Sonof Boggit Cups. The news came as a shock for many but Jason said he would be interested in stepping into a spot in the already large player contingent. Paul Reade also said he has been interested in playing but hasn't been able to squeeze it into his already hectic schedule. As for Sitch and Walsh it is still unclear about where they were on the day but I'm sure that Steve Curtain will be onto him first thing Monday morning to find out.

Look up and live' -Curtain's shooting woes
My record speaks for itself, I have scored just four goals in the last four Sonof Boggit tournaments and that simply is not good enough. It is also the prime reason why my team has only taken home the bacon on one occassion. Why don't I score? Well it is true that I don't get forward too much and our teams passing hasn't always been the best to set one another up (we have been one of the lowest scoring teams of all). My biggest problem is that when I get within range I have a bad habbit of looking down at the ball, then I just shoot blindly and miss the target because I'm not always sure where it is. If we are too win next time I will have to put in many hours practising dribbling without looking down at the ball. Steven Curtain

Country Footy

Country Footy will be back next week but in the mean time a new section will become available for a limited time called Metropolitan Footy. This weeks match will be between Xavier College and some other rich Melbourne school team. That will be followed by Collingwood v Geelong, as I will be attending those games on Saturday.

HEY SNELLY
One of the saddest things I have heard in football hit me last night when I heard that Jason Snell was forced to retire at 25 due to an ankle injury. The 68 game player was a cheeky forward pocket and midfield player who had great potential at Geelong. Wearing the number 4 jumper which was also worn by Alaistair Lord and the great Bobby Davis and of more recent distinction the number was briefly shared by Adrian Fletcher who gave it to Western Bulldogs player Matthew Robbins who then conceded it to Andrew Wills before he moved to Fremantle. Unfortunately this no 4 won't share in the same accolades as those before him but from Maher on Monday we wish you the best of luck in the future.

Organisers plea for players to turn up to Sonof
Today's inclement whether has cast doubts over the quality of the playing surface for tomorrows Sonof Boggit Cup.
Of major concern is whether or not all competitors will show tomorrow. I put it to your all to do everything in your power to show. Even if it is just to see how the ground is holding up. Bell oval has been well known for its excellent drainage and may stand up to standard even if we get more rain. So be at Bell Oval before 2:30pm tomorrow otherwise your heart just isn't in it.

Svanosio a big wrap for Boggit and Web Sites
In a recent off the record chat with Stephen Svanosio, he stated that the Sonof Boggit Cup was the most exciting thing in his life at the current time. Leave it up to you to decide if that's sad or not. He was also a big wrap for both the Curts Glory and Maher on Monday websites, saying that he looks forward to receiving emails from the sites to catch up on the latest news.

Fevernova hits Sonof Boggit Cup
If conditions suit for the up coming Sonof Boggit Cup the revealing of a new match ball will be a highlight for the tournament. The league recently got its hand on a brand new Mini Fevernova (The replica of the world cup ball). So if conditions suit it will be used.

Tough Going for Debutants
For those players claiming to be making their debut in the June 28th Sonof Boggit Cup it won't be easy going. A few players that we have been talking to say that they will be doing everything in their power to make life tuff for these new comers. A tough and rugged attitude will be taken toward them. This could be the signs of a new age for the Sonof Boggit Cup but one feels that the game is starting to become to soft, and I believe the great Sonof Boggit would agree. So a message to those who think this game will be a walk in the park, think again.

Sonof Boggit Ground Update
The surfaces of all four grounds at Strathdale park have been assessed today. Rodda Field, Mason Field, Bell Oval and Beischer Park have all been closely examined. Currently the two grounds that are looking most favorable are Mason Field and Bell Oval. The home of the Previous Cup, Rodda Field is looking to be a little water logged but does have a good flat grass surface. Beischer is chopped up because of its commitments to senior soccer and won't favour the smaller ball. So at the moment it looks like Mason oval of which I Personally have doubts over the inconsistency of its surface. We shall leave the final decision up to the players on the day!

Monday 17th June 2002
Mc Qualter Line Up almost confirmed
Pat Mc Qualter has come out today and said he has a line up for the up and coming Sonof Boggit Cup. He has said he will defintely be teaming with Jamie Dalrymple who has had experience in the competition. A possible third inclusion could be that of Peter Westbrook. Westbrook is yet to make his long awaited debut in the comp but news is it could be soon.

Still no news as on whether Columban Walsh will take part word around the street is he may have more important business to take care of at home.
There are some minor concerns over Michael Sitch, rumors are about claiming he may have severely severed a finger while working at Castle Bacon in an accident involving a meat slicer.

Sitch Sonof Debut : Possible
In the most recent sighting of Michael Sitch, Sitchy said he would be interested in participating in the next Sonof Boggit Cup. What kind of Form he is in is unknown but we are sure he will be an excitement machine and a real crowd drawer.

Return on the Cards
A return to Bendigo soccer could be on the Cards for myself. Epsom are currently sifting through the constitution to see whether a double transfer can be done in one season. If so they may be a return to Epsom.

Harris Work or Play

Star player Michael Harris is under a cloud of doubt as to whether or not he will be available for the up and coming Sonof Boggit Cup on the 28th of June. Work could stand in his way, depending on what shift he will work. If he is rostered on the later shift he will almost certainly not be able to participate. This could loom as a huge blow for the Ever impressive Howley/Harris/Walsh trio, who have all but dominated the Competition. If the trio are to win there title back they will surely need Harris's grit and determination out there with them.

Name Change For better or Worse
For the sake of public interest Maher on Monday is asking you to help us. Let me explain.
For most of you the Night Club on Mc Crae St Called The Albert Hotel should ring a bell. Anyway it has recently undergone a name change and general appearance overhaul to the "Universal on McCrae." It opened Saturday night and just to let the public know, if you did venture there we would like to know how it is. So please email me. [email protected]

Lougoon Comes down to Earth
Well known BI LO check out chick Josh Lougoon has finally come back down to earth. His recently published exclusion zone article on the Curts Glory Website is one merely of admission that he is slowley but surely going down the gurgler.
Well from everyone here at Maher on Monday I say good luck to you Josh!

World Cup Hype
With all the Hype that is surrounding the up and coming World Cup a lot of sports are being neglected. SBS have gone away from there traditional weekend soccer coverage in favour of a much more neglected sport in Curling. SBS broadcast the World Championship in Curling and boy was it a rating winner for the Network, good on you boys it won't be long until Paul Williams starts giving his great opinion on the Sport.

Robbie Deacon: From White Maggot to White
Well known restaurateur and White Maggot Robert Deacon has been noticed around town with a lady friend.
The son of a former VFL footballer and Woodwork teacher has done some pretty crazy things in his time but never to this magnitude. Just when you thought that working at Hungry Jacks and Umpiring at Broadford was "Pretty Shit" he's gone one better.
Robert has found himself with a brand new girlfriend able to walk 100m in less than a day, if you don't know who that is heres a brief description.
She is extremely short with blonde hair and glasses. She has many friends in the same mould. She once dated Jason McKee and gets around using Crutches all day. I talk of none other than Kiea White. Yes Robbie you've outdone your self this time

Rocket goes the Record.
Paul Sokel was out drinking on Saturday night. He took a trip to a local 18th birthday party at the Foundry. I met up with Rocket and this is what he had to say.
On approach he held a pot of beer in his hand. I asked him whether he was in for a big night or not. He replied "I've had six and I'm trying to break my record of 12." Now from past experiences with Rocket and alcohol most people know that that the two don't get along very well. So first impressions were that Rocket was lying through his teeth because one would think that he would be on the floor out to it at that stage.
In summing I don't believe that Rocket made the 12, because he turned up fit and ready to go the next morning to play in the Golden City seconds team.

Birmingham Looking Shaky
Birminghams' playoff campaign got off to a shaky start yesterday when they drew 1 all with Milwall. Of biggest Concern is that Milwall scored one away goal. This could prove the ultimate sealer come thursday night in the second leg at the New Den. Another Concern could be the good form of Norwich which won 3-1 as well. We can only hope that Birmingham don't have a repeat of last years performance and the year before that. Stay in touch with Maher On Monday for the next installment.

27th April 2002
Cats look the Goods
Geelong showed some very good signs today against an improved Fremantle Team. Without getting to carry away the Cats will face some real oppostion in the Coming Weeks, mainly Brisbane. A very youthful Geelong team could turn some heads by making the Finals this year and in at least 2 years will be a Flag Contender. They have a good mix of youth and experience. The likes of King, Ling, Bartlel, Corey, Ablett, Kingsley, Clarke, Spriggs will combine well in the midfield in years to come. Match that with there ever solid Defensive unit of Scarlett, Harley, Sanderson, Milburn, Sholl, Rooke, Hunt and Foster. The Cats will be a force this year but even more so in the future.

26 April 2002
Transfer Talks loom imminent
The immediate careers of a few Epsom soccer player hang in the balance, Without naming any names there have been some talks of players looking to transfer to other clubs and some looking to give the sport up altogether. In a time where Soccer in Australia hangs in the balance it is simply not on for clubs to force players out of there club just because of there like-ability", in other words because we don't like you for no particular reason. If this is the Way other clubs treat players than soccer in Australia will be in trouble, in all honestly this probably isn't the case at all and its just the attitude of a few self minded people.

24th April 2002
Walsh definitely off the Rails
Columban Walsh has definitely gone off the rails. The boys at Brit haven't seen or heard from him in at least 2 weeks, This is very unusual considering we used to share an hour lunch break with him every day. Many rumors have been spread about his whereabouts but none have yet to be confirmed. In the opinion of the people here at Maher on Monday, he has become a "TAFE sicko" (for a definition on what a "TAFE sicko is please refer to Curts Glory Online).

23rd April 2002
Where the Hell is Walsh
Has anyone seen Walsh lately if you have please send in you sitting to Curts Glory so we can track him down. Also if you do see him, abuse him for me as well. It Would be Greatly Appreciated!

SONOF BOGGIT CUP CD
A CD will be released on Friday Called Sonof Boggit Cup. The complete list of titles are yet to be fully comipled but the making of the CD is well under way. If you would like a copy please email me at [email protected].

CURTAIN CONFIDENT OF VICTORY
Steven Curtain Today stated in a hard hitting press release that he is very Confident of Taking the Sonof Boggit Cup Home with him come april 5. He said "The Sonof is Coming home. He feels that he is coming into the best form of his Career, that is a scary sight for opposition teams Curtain is Confident enough to say "If we play only Half decent we cant possibly loose. Curtain will be Joined by Tony Dreschler and Jason Maher on Friday as they hope to take the Sonof Boggit Cup home with them. Can they do it?, only time will tell.

BELL OVAL LOOKS A TREAT
Recent ground reports of Bell Oval (the home ground of the Sonof) are looking positive. The ground hasn’t been in this kind of condition for years. Come kick off on Friday the ground will have had a full two weeks without any for of activity on it.

Grass cover is thick and consistent and cut short. The ball should move along the ground very well, which is what is needed for quality Sonof Cup action. Make sure your there to compete in the Biggest Event of the year.

LANE RIGHT TO QUIT
The recent resignation of Tim Lane from the Nine Football Commentary Team may have come at a shock, but it was only a matter of time before someone quit.

Lane quit over Eddie McGuire's decision to call Collingwood games. Lane and McGuire were set to call Thursdays opening game featuring Collingwood but Lane refused to call along side Eddie. This led to the dismissal. If I had have been in the same situation I may not have quit but I wouldn’t have called with Eddie. Eddie now has the Ultimate access to advertising and exploiting the Collingwood Football Club. I know that I wont watch Eddie calling a Collingwood game I will tune into 3LO to listen to Tim Lane and Drew Morphett.

HARRIS RUNS SCARED
With the Sonof Boggit cup just days away and plenty of fresh faces and teams joining the competition every thing seems fine. However the two time reigning premiers of Howley/Harris/Walsh are playing down there chances.

Michael Harris the all time leading Goal scorer is saying that the competition is becoming to commercial. He believes that the new faces in the Comp in good but the hype surrounding the event might be too much.

Well I am going to say that its time the back to back champs came out on match day and showed the world that they are one of the great teams in Sonof Boggit Cup history. I believe they can and that if they do they will be proclaimed the Greatest team in history winning 3 straight title.

They will have some stiff Competion and that is what Harris in scared off but it should just be a small stepping stone to Glory for the combine.
