Tigray, the northmost region of Ethiopia, is an ancient land, rich in natural and cultural resources.
However, its 3.5 million people suffer one of the poorest socio-economic conditions in the world.
Poor health and too loittle access to health care, inadequate water supplies, too few schools and
poor quality education, and limited availability of the technically skilled workers needed to build the
