MAHAYANA SUTRA
FOUR STEPS AND FOUR RESULTS - THE PATH TO NIRVANA

Then let me simply explain the stage from the step to enter the
stream of the truth up to Arhat.
As I had mentioned, to enter teh stream of the truth means to take
refuge in Buddha, the truth, or the law, which was taught by the
Buddha, and people who practice the teaching of the Buddha. And
the stage of the result of entering the stream of the truth is when
one could completely take refuge into them.
Then what is the stage when one could completely take refuge into
them? This doesn't mean that one should always think of Guru, law,
or such people all day; it is the stage when one could declare that
I took refuge in the truth, or the teaching of Buddha, I could let
myself go into the holy stream.
In other words, the result of entering the stream of the truth is
when one could put oneself into the holy stream. Naturally, this
person who is in the stage of the result of entering the stream of
the truth will listen to various lectures. Because of this merit,
this person will come down to this phenomenal world (the six realms
of desire) once again so as to do spiritual practice. This is the
step to come once.
And when there is a result of coming to this world once, he goes
on to the step of non-returner. Non-returner means that he would
not reincarnate in this phenomenal world any more. He will
reincarnate not into this phenomenal world but into so called
Astral world which is made out of subtle material. Simple practice
in this world can take him to Nirvana. One can attain Arhat if he
obtain the result of spiritual practice as the non-returner. This
is the qualification to enter Nirvana.
THE ATTAINMENT OF THE AIM AS HUMAN BEINGS
In fact, Buddha Sakyamuni only teaches up to this point. However,
I shall say that this is only the entrance. The result of Arhat is
only the entrance for becoming Mahayana Buddha.
After this comes Raja Yoga. I often say that "the spiritual
practice of the six perfection" is important. It begins from
offerings, and goes on to the observation of precepts,
strengthening of will, effort, meditation, and wisdom. The first
result we can get after fulfilling the spiritual practice of the
strengthening one's will is the attainment of Raja Yoga.
If one keeps practicing after its attainment, soon there will be
the perfection of Raja Yoga. So the power of will is what supports
Raja Yoga. It is the strong power of will. In other words, it is
impossible to attain Raja Yoga without strong power of will.
Then what does it necessary to attain Kundalini Yoga which comes
after this? What is necessary beside the strong power of will
which is necessary to attain Raja Yoga? The answer is energy, the
life energy, or the up rising energy.
And when this up rising energy completely broke through the crown
of the head, energy unites with inteligence. This means that the
up rising energy vibrates the cerebrum wich creates the special
activity of the brain. And one can change into superman at the
moment the energy and the inteligence united together. The brain
of this superman is extremely clear. He can be a great scientist
if he wants to.
After the attainment and perfection of the Kundalini Yoga, one
will go on to the process of Jnana Yoga. In Jnana Yoga, one will
eradicate the sufficient consciousness and approach to one's
subconsciousness. Then, he will be able to think the reason and
the result in his subconsciousness. Since this analysis is done
not based on the suffecient consciousness which is strongly
influenced by lies and outlook but on the subconsciousness which is
one's real consciousness, the reason and the result is nothing but
the truth.
Since one can understand the truth, he can cut off the reason of
suffering. So the Jnana Yoga liberates us from suffering. The
basement of Jnana Yoga is the linking of the energy of Kundalini
and one's inteligence. And after the attainment and the perfection
of Jnana Yoga, there will be Mahayana Yoga which is based on "the
four immeasurable minds".
In Jnana Yoga, individual was the main. For example, one analizes
things based on oneself. However, in Mahayana Yoga which comes
after that, something totally different appears. That is the
cosmic principle which transcends self. And little by little, one
begins to understand ther real meaning of salvation.
In Mahayana Yoga, one will do spiritual practice to completely get
rid of the distinction between self and others. From the view
point of Chakra, this is the stage of Anahata Chakra. Anahata
Chakra is getting extremely big. As it was before, one should also
aim for perfection after the attainment of this Yoga. After the
perfection of this Yoga, there will be nothing this person should
doin this life. In other words, the purpose for being born as
human beings is being attained.
