~Picking Up The Pieces~

A fragment of memory...some old sunny day...
Gathers dust where it lay.
The once brilliant glint, just a faded hint...
That this piece used to be part...

Of a grandness that has been well lost to time...god only knows how long.

I bend down to pick the piece off the ground.
Brushing it off, turning it around...
See that shine?  Yes, I think its still fine...
This bit is not quite broken...

I'll put it over here with the rest, and try to put it together later.

I like your smile my friend.
Why don't you give me a hand?
I have alot of work ahead, as you can see.

Shuffling about, dusting off shards...
Nursing fingers cut on the jagged edges.
Would you help me?

Would you help me pick up the broken pieces of myself?
Would you help pick them up, stack that one gently here...
There's another piece over there...
And we'll fit these two back together with care!

I'm asking would you...give that piece back to me?
I may put all these back together one day after all.
My shattered and broken heart!
It may never be whole, but at least I can start...

Picking up the pieces.

Over time half a heart starts to form.
Once again starts to beat...
Joy blooms and injured hopes begin to mend.

Smiles start to take shape...
In the reflection of shards that are not glass...
But memories of the love she used to send!

A kind heart may yet again bloom from ashes!
Perhaps its gone now, but I could try to feel again...
In a way ever so slow...
"This piece fits just like so..."

It begins to resemble what I've lost!

I've got to hold out for another day, no matter what.
Throughout, I don't lose hope, I know I've loved once.
A memory of her kiss...
"This piece fits here like this..."

Slowly and quietly, I'll pick up the pieces of a heart with love left to give.

~Even if I am never whole again, I would still give you my pieces.
Some feelings are worth saving.
This is my goodbye to the past, and things that can never be again.
Goodbye Rae.  This heart will go to someone else.~
