"I didn't know her at all, everyone said to me that she is the future Kournikova. They had told me that she shouts a lot", commented the Spaniard who admitted that she was "a little bit nervous at the beginning because it was the first match of the tournament".

In Paris, Serna sees the tournament with some optimism: “I don’t dislike the draw that I have, now I have a tough rival on clay, Pistolesi, but I’m excited, as if it was the first time that I play here”.

“The change has been mental above all, because the game has always been there, but with calmness you dare to do more things, especially with the backhand”, she added.

"She has played many matches on clay, but I’ll try to defeat her", said Magüi after reaching the fourth round, "although I know that everyone from here will support her".

"I would like to play on Centre Court because I have got great wins on big courts, as the one I got when I defeated Mary Pierce at Wimbledon. I think my game is similar to hers, but each match is different", she commented.

Magüi insisted that her current power is product of a mental change. "The game was always there", she said, "it has been a thing of accepting my own mistakes and admitting that all of us are humane and we can make mistakes at any moment".

"It’s a little bit of maturity, some people get earlier, others later. My coach has also helped (Fernando García Lleó), and also that I’m at home next to my family. All of this gives you more stability and calmness".

Magüi also considered that the Slovak Daniela Hantuchova is too thin. "I see her too thin, for me maybe too much, maybe she has lost power because of that, she seems a girl. I think her environment should worry about that ", she commented.

«I have played very nervous». Magüi Serna confessed that this was a match to enjoy and however it became a «calvary».«I have never enter in the match, and I had no pressure, but of all the matches I have played here, this one is when I have been more nervous», said Serna.

«What I have felt is impotence because I haven't been able to develop my game at all. I have tried to do many things, but when you feel so frustrated, there's no way. It isn't easy to play well», she added.

«A shame because this was the typical match to enjoy, and this has been the contrary, a calvary».

«I had hopes against her, especially after the match I played here indoors. I thought she would have a lot of pressure because she was the last French here, but it has been the other way. I have played with a lot of nerves and I have been completely 'stopped'», she said.

«Now I'm going to rest a couple of weeks and I'm going to try to recover from the shoulder and elbow and to prepare the grass (Wimbledon), which is what I like. I'll be seeded there after the result here, and that gives me a lot of motivation, especially because I lost there in the first round last year», Serna added.
