Words after losing to Vento in the first round in the US Open, in 1998, by 6-7, 7-5 and 6-4.
(Translation from DIARIO AS (Wednesday 2nd September 1998))
“It has been a strange match”
It’s been a strange match.
I haven’t started well and I wasn’t comfortable in any moment. I didn’t
have enough initiative. It was a strange situation because I was confident.
Maybe the reason is that I spent two days in bed last week, that might
have made me lose the rhythm. I could have won if I had got a 2-0 and my
serve in the second set, but I missed the chance.
