Welcome to the Realm of Mindfulness

INFORMATION IS NOT KNOWLEDGE
Information alone will not grow Wisdom. Gathering information does not necessarily make a person kind, intelligent, or humane. It is all about how one uses what they know to be true.
In Biology and in religions we learn that "ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny" My attempt here is to help the reader/viewer toward gentle and worthy information that they may USE to enhance their life.
It is important to spread good words, ideas and accepting theories on the internet and throughout the globe. Planting and watering the seeds of Peace from nation to nation and mind to mind:
It is important for PEACE to grow. This is not some so-called hippie theory on life! I think Labeling something is a way to dismiss it so please do not do that.
All war is human failure and inability and ignorance, so you will not see anything at this sight which supports war.In Buddhism, the three World Evils are: greed, militarism, and ignorance. In this current administration we see all three.Email me! and Connect.

"Keep my words positive--words become my behaviors. Keep my behaviors positive--behaviors become my habits. Keep my habits positive--Habits become my values. Keep my values positive--values become my destiny. This is no dress rehearsal--this is one day in my life."
Mahatma Gandhi

The Writing on the Wall:

"The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend personal God and avoid dogma and theology. Covering both the natural and the spiritual,it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things natural and spiritual as a meaningful unity. Buddhism answers this description...
If there is any religion that could cope with modern scientific needs it would be Buddhism"...

"A human being is a part of the whole called by us the universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separate from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening the circle of understanding and compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

ALBERT EINSTEIN

Being Ready To Fight Racism and Bigotry

When you are a person to whom race is not an issue,it is a shock to be faced with another to whom race is the only issue. It is our initial re-action to hate, and that hate will determine what will happen in the future.
This page is about solutions which bring people closer together. It is a page set in positive conviction that Belief and Action with a long ranged goal of de-Polarizing the community will bring people to peace and unity. Although there are some links here which concentrate upon being "against" or "stopping", the important messages of this page are: "Ways to be FOR" and "Methods to ENCOURAGE".

Being Mindful of How to Proceed

Simply because we are faced with people who post hatred and rant on the Internet, is not a reason for posting more hate and ranting louder. In considering the sources of these webpages, we must realize that they are posted by people who are very different from each other and from us,but at the same time are much like each other and like us. These pages are often posted by those are seeking re-action and attention. It is important to remember: They are merely human, like us; They are part of humanity,as we are; They could be our relatives or neighbors; And they could be going through a phase and could have a change in heart. Doors must be kept open, as unattractive as that may seem to us personally, minds at war can not be changed. It is not advocated here to make laws that would censor the opposing view.Nor is it wished or desired that first amendment rights should be curbed by government.Rather it is hoped that by appealing to the higher-nature of companies and web-servers, that a higher standard can be achieved without legal intervention.
Thich Nhat Hanh,in his book "Becoming Peace" describes Fourteen Precepts to Interbeing.

These precepts, although they come from ancient Buddhist origins, can be used to help people de-polarize and begin to "get along". I have not changed the ideas of the Precepts, but have altered the language in order, hopefully, to apply them specifically to Racism on the Net.

MINDSET-PRECEPTS

  1. In fighting racism, one set religion or theology, can needlessly narrow ones viewpoint. Practice non-attachment to views,in that you are open to the views of others, and have an open mind and are not taking things personally

  2. Forcing others through threats, authority, money or propaganda to accept your opinions will not convince anyone. Do conduct compassionate dialogue to help others renounce racism

  3. CONFRONT those who appear to be racist, be aware of them, know them well, face reality in the world, not shying away or having fear.

  4. IF you sit back and have pleasure that you are not a racist, without helping those who are suffering the effects of racism, you are not helping to end racism. Do not assume that the issue is resolved.

  5. When you act out in hate and anger you lose focus. Practice meditation on compassion to try to understand those who have made you hate. Try to learn to look at other-beings in a compassionate manner

  6. Some could become lost in their surroundings, in gaining fame from being "Anti-Racist", or lost in the design of displaying 'antiracism'by being more concerned over the 'logo',the t-shirt,the display. Develop concentration and understanding to the task at hand so this will not happen.

  7. Saying or doing untruthful things does not impress people or gain respect for our point of view. Try not to utter words of hatred, slurs, or offensive language to make a point. It is the racists game, why play it by their rules? Spreading hateful news which may or may-not be true brings down the mission. BUT HAVE the courage to speak up against injustices and hatred even when threatened.

  8. Avoid using the anti-racist community for personal gain,profit or political party. Make a clear stand against racism. Strive to change the situation without a partisan conflict. Think,weigh,balance {pick your fights}

  9. Avoid a vocation that promotes racism or acts in racist manners. If you present links to racist material, or people it MAY only encourage racism and hate.

  10. Boycott products from racist Companies.

  11. Do not kill. Do not support murder. Do not support the murder of racists.

  12. Respect the property { ie: websites} of others. But work to prevent others from profiting off the suffering of people,or racism through racist-websites

  13. Live simply, and organized. This will relieve stress for you and those you are with.

  14. Be respectful of your sexual energies Treat your body and mind well. Be aware that sexual-expression should not happen without love and commitment. Avoid using your sexual-energy as a tool. Help to preserve the happiness of others, and yourself, by "Preserving Reserve" on the Internet and in life.{this is about cybersex-cyber-romance}

Perhaps, after reading this, you are confused as to why some of these ideas are listed. These precepts for peaceful-nonviolent-interaction try to address the whole-person, the entire issue, and any conflicts which may arise while the individual and the group attack something which blocks harmony and peace. While it is important not to become a block to peace oneself, it is also understood that some precepts will apply more than others at various times, or to various individuals. Some will not apply at all. These Precepts have been used successfully in the past to Free Nations and Free People.

Plum Village...Thich Nhat Hanh's Books

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.
Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations.
Do not believe in anything because it is spoken and rumoured by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in religious books.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of teachers and elders
But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason, and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."

The Buddha

HOME PAGE

" Nonviolence is the answer to the crucial political and moral questions of our time: the need for man to overcome oppression and violence without resorting to oppression and violence...Man must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love."

MARTIN LUTHER KING,JR.

( speech in accepting the Nobel Peace Prize 1964)

Things you can do Today:

In any organized action, people ask what they can do now that will make a difference. Often what they mean is Exactly NOW. They wish immediate and swift change. Nonviolent Protest and Nonviolent Confrontation rarely sees immediate results. But also, there have been very dramatic changes as a result of nonviolent-protest through the world.

Please Say This Out Loud Daily:

Let us pray for world peace, social justice, and environmental balance, which begin with our own breathing.
I breathe in calmly and breathe out mindfully.
Once I have seeds of peace and happiness within me, I try to reduce my selfish desires and reconstitute my consciousness.
With less attachment to myself, I try to understand the structural violence in the world.
Linking my heart with my head I perceive the world holistically, a sphere full of living beings whoa re all related to me
I try to expand my understanding with love to help build a more nonviolent world.
I vow to live simply and offer myself to the oppressed
By the grace of the Compassionate Ones and with the help of good friends, may I be a partner in lessening of the suffering int he world so that it may be a proper habitat for all senient beings to live in harmony during this millenium.
