| The
curvature of the steel is inspired from the Chinese word "¿D"
meaning Macau. The word "¿D" itself
means a curved bay along the shore. Therefore, in the final stage I design
a circular platform to emphasize this.
When analyze the word "¿D"
literally, the left refers to the Chinese word "¤ô"
meaning water. Therefore, One end of the steel is in spiral shape and goes
towards the platform. At the bottom is the word "¤j"
meaning big. According to Chinese philosophy, big can be something which
is expanding continually so that its size is expanding ,e.g. our universe.
To emphasize this, the other end is designed in such a way that it leads
to a long path with its end curves up. Trees aligned along the steel to
emphasize its continuity and its expanding.
Sometimes when we write quickly we
try to simplify part of the word, leaving its most significant. I derive
the form of the steel by writing the word in a faster way in many times.
After that , I notice the left part of "¿D"
is written in one curved line. Besides, the bottom part is always written
with its end stretches out. Therefore, in designing the steel literally, I
also followed the way I write the word.
