Originally this was created as a "stereo oops" type of mix, where the side channels are enhanced in volume while the center is diminished by use of a filter. Play it in a Dolby II surround system however, and you get a reasonable approximation of a 5.1 DTS mix, with the side channels predominantly in the back and the center "channel" in the C front, with all of the just-left-of-center and just-right-of-center sounds coming from the FL and FR. Quite unintentional when the mix was done, the effect is still quite good. The only negative is that there might be too much information coming from the back speakers for some people's taste. When listened to on a non-Dolby II system, it appears to sound more like it was originally intended, that is as a stereo with some front to back effects and more emphasis on the side channels, without any or very little sound in the back speakers. Hopefully more information will become available as the mix is tested on more systems.
