Magnified Plaid, Inc.decided to chose this method.
II. Advantages and Disadvantages
A. Advantages for this method are that we are making a profit. Also, it is an effective way of diluting the CuCl2.
B. Disadvantages of this method are that it is expensive, and the product being made is heavy so it would be difficult to transport it from lace to place.
III. Explanation of why it was chosen.
A. Magnified Plaid chose this method over the rest because we felt that it was the best environmentally and economically.
B. The method kept the copper (II) chloride from harming the land, water, and air.
C. We thought that since roads are paved with gravel as the first layer, and sodium silicate having a positive effect in the first layer of gravel, that we could sell the waste to a road company such as PEN DOT. Then, we would be able to make a profit off of it.
IV. Plan
A. Our plan to carry out this method is to use the mixture of 9.9g of cement and 2.5mL of Sodium Silicate because that was the cheapest mixture that was the right texture (a crumbly texture). We are going to put that mixture into a mixing apparatus on a truck, which we figure will cost about $100,000. Then we will sell the mixture to PEN DOT for $50/ton. Being that a ton of gravel isn't that much, there will be a pretty beneficial profit on this. If we have any waste left over after three months, we would have to get rid of it by sending it to a landfill, which is $50/dumptruck load, and we would also have to pay $100/day for the dump truck But we think that in the end, it will all be worthwhile because we are putting the waste to use, its not just going to sit around.
