PENTA = ARCHITECTURE + ENGINEERING + CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

At the core PENTA is an architecrutal office, established in Ankara, Turkey. PENTA provides total consulting services, has liaison offices in Istanbul, Izmir and Mersin for this purpose. Penta has won major architectural competitions like the Defense Industry Headquarters and Ansera Shopping Center. We have provided consulting services to discerning clients like the State Housing Board of Turkey (TOKI)and United Nations Development Program (UNDP). PENTA stresses technical competency as well as creativity in meeting client's needs.

ARCHITECTURE AS A CRITICISM

Principal Architect of PENTA is Sait Kozac�o�lu. SK has obtained his professional degree in Architecture from Midlle East Technical University in Ankara and had post-graduate studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is a registered member with turkish and danish architectural organizations. SK has started private practice with PENTA in 1992. Until then he worked in the architectural field as project architect, researcher, board member with the turkish architectural organization, guest lecturer, and public employee (in Denmark), and corporate executive. When starting PENTA nine years ago, SK was highly critical of the state of the profession in Turkey. Architectural profession in Turkey has got itself into a corner by its focus on the building. The overwhelming majority of building construction in Turkey being residential construction, architectural practice became limited in scope and depth, reducing itself to an appendage of the construction trade. To tackle the design problems created by a growing population and economy, architecture should redevelop its vision and re-acquire technical mastery. PENTA is the step in this direction.

SUBJECT OF ARCHITECTURE IS THE PUBLIC SPACE

PENTA has special experience and know-how in public buildings and facilities - government and municipal offices, office towers, hotels and holiday villages, sports clubs and stadiums, museums, exhibition halls and shopping malls as well as housing development. International standards are achieved in space planning construction documentation, leading to high grade spaces tolerant of heavy use.
