Greetings! My name is Jonathan Milo (I come from a long line of Milos) Leal.
I'm 30 and am pursuing a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) at Ohio University,
where my other academic loves are French and German, although I've been known to study Russian, Italian and Hebrew.
Language is one of my life's passions. Another passion in my life is my sweetie,
Barry (left). We bought a home together in Athens in December 1998, and have spent a lot of time renovating and
upgrading various elements. Barry works at as a senior research associate at the Institute for Local Government
Administration and Rural Development, at the Ridges at Ohio University. He's also a political science professor,
and has just edited a new book, Gays and Lesbians in the Democratic Process.Another member of my family is Bear. Five years old and frisky still, this part-Alaskan Malamute, part-Husky, part-Shepherd is the most adorable pet you'll ever meet. He lives with my parents in their home near the OU campus, and responds with remarkable accuracy to commands in French, German, Spanish, and English, and can be made to sit with a single look from my father. (Now, imagine growing up with that!) More about my family: My mother is a professor of education at Ohio University; my father is pursuing his doctorate in computer science at Ohio State, and commuting two to three times a week. My sister, who has her own homepage here, has just returned to Athens after four years living and working in Brussels, Belgium. She's one of a select few chosen by the university for its elite, scholarship-based master's program. My past: My family served as missionaries to Nepal, a tiny country above India. I spent six years there, two years in Mexico City, six years in Oklahoma, two years in Kentucky, three years at Covenant College in Georgia, back in Oklahoma for five years as a newspaper reporter, and now I'm here at OU. After graduation, I plan to live and work either in Europe or in America for an international firm, where I can perfect my language skills. Among my hobbies I count biking, Rollerblading, racquetball, web page design, spending time with my sweetie, and corresponding with friends around the globe. In my spare time (yeah, right) I edit movie reviews for my friend Lynda Andrews, whose work is published in newpapers and on radio in Oklahoma, where I used to live. I love to correspond via e-mail, and I love to meet new people. Drop me a line at [email protected]. I would also love it if you would sign my guestbook. My fellow intern Delphine Wykes and I take in the 97.6% solar eclipse in Brussels on Aug. 11, 1999. ![]() ABOVE: One of best friends recently celebrated her 20th birthday (she looks more mature, which makes one think something "Fish"-y is going on). In any event, I'd like to use this public space to congratulate her and to say: It's been a real pleasure having you in my life. Your optimism, energy, and unflagging support make you a keeper as friends go! Happy 20th birthday, Amanda Habel!!! With love from Jonathan! |
