Nine Days in China

Summer 2002

In late June 2002, my family took a three-week trip to Asia. The itinerary included nine days in the largest country in the world and almost a week in Nepal, country of my sister Jenny's birth and home to our family for six years in the early 1970s. It was our first time ever in China, and our first time in Nepal in almost 20 years.

Our reason for visiting China was my sister Jenny. She has lived in Beijing since 2001, when she first got a job teaching at a local university. She is now working for Xinhua, the state news agency, putting her master's in journalism from OU and award-winning writing to good use.

This photo diary chronicles that journey with pictures and stories. Click on the links below to go to specific pages, or simply start with the first one and work your way through to the end.

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy your virtual tour of Asia!
