The Lady

The Lady the mother of all, most favored of her Lord, was co-creator of man. From her womb, came all things wholesome and good. Her seed was noble, pure, with divine inheritance. Their skin, though pigmented, shone like the sun but with a glow that originated within. The Lady tucked her children on their own special Irth in a remote corner of the universe, guarded by both angels and beasts.

Bahaal, Despiser of her Lord, who loved the Lady for only selfish and lusty reasons, who only wished to mar her perfection, obscure her true beauty, and to defile her purity; chased the Lady to the End of the Universe. Once captured, he entwined her in a cocoon of darkness. Only pinpricks of light shone forth and shed light in the night sky for her children to see. To confuse the children, Bahaal set forth the Sun in the sky to mask the tiny points of light so that her children might believe her to have abandoned them. He whispered to her babes and told them that she no longer loved them. That she was gone never to return. Her true and stalwart followers, whose faith would not waiver, knew she would never have left them and searched the whole of Irth for their mother, the Lady.

Bahaal had laid a clever rouse for the children of Irth, but he had forgotten the old Laws. Things are the same on earth as in the Heavens and are governed by certain eternal principles that even he could not change. Just as the Sun ruled the sky, it could not rule the sky of the whole Irth at once. As the Irth turned, so did the sun and while half of the earth was in light, the other half was in shadow. The tiny sparkles of the Ladys light would be ever visible to her children at night, where the Sun had no authority.

For centuries, the children of Irth followed the stars, seeking their Lady, fighting their brothers and sisters who fell prey to Bahaals lies. They burned offerings to her, sending smoke into the heavens, so that she would know in whatever darkness she was forced to dwell, that her children would never truly abandon her. The believers called themselves True Men and although the glow in their skin was much diminished, it was brighter then those who did not believe. They called their brethren The Despised, after their belief that The Lady had perished and one day Bahaal would find them and free them all from Order and Law.

Bahaal came to the Lady each time the Sun began his cycle in the heavens. He made the same plea each time: her love in return for her freedom. He showed her the dwindling state of her children, the disgrace of her Irth, and their growing worship of him. Bahaal knew the Lady was no warrior. She was a creator, a nurturer. She was daughter, mother, wife, and lover. The despiser was trickery, hatred, and bitterness. She was no match for him.

In the 13th century of her captivity, The Lady spent the sum of her strength she had harnessed over the centuries and lashed out at the evil Bahaal, entwining him in his own cocoon. Being the maker of the trap, he would not be held long for he knew the bitterness and agony from which it was spun and could easily undo it. The Lady returned to her Lord with all haste and begged sanctuary. Ancient Law prevented her Lord from becoming more involved, but out of love he created a means for her to escape from Bahaal. She would not be able to hide from the Despiser forever, but she would have time to gain strength from her children and to fight.

Just before her exile, the lady visited her Irth and there she planted her seed among her children. There was born the first True Man in 13 centuries, which glowed like the rays of the sun. This true child of the Lady and her Lord was given to be her Irths champion, father of many great nations. She also gave unto her children the moon in the night sky and taught them signs and tokens whereby they could seek her will and follow her commands, to better fight the Despised. Therein the stars she would reveal a plan to seal off Bahaal from her Irth and her children forever. It would not be easy. It would take sacrifice.

Centuries passed and the battles between the True Men and the Despised became bloodier and bloodier. Many times each side was nearly lost. In the 9th century since the Ladys freedom, after the rise and fall of many nations, the True Men became scattered and hidden, secret tools for The Ladys grand designs. Their power had become lessened as a result of mixing with those stalwart followers of lesser blood but with hearts just as true. Tokens in the heavens began to change slightly denoting the time was at hand for more action. The children of Irth would be asked to sacrifice all. The time was at hand. Bahaals servants would be overthrown soon. This was a time of both joy and mourning for many would be lost on the swords and spears of Bahaals minions.
