Al Ain Men’s College, Al Ain, United Arab Emirates

Independent Learning Technician, August 2003 - Present

·         Teach basic learning, information and research skills courses to incoming first year college students.  These are either system-wide course of the HCT or college-based classes for Al Ain Men’s College’s students.

·         Create, compile and maintain the library’s independent learning resources.

·         Assist, guide and tutor students working independently in the Library.

·         Help maintain the Library’s intranet and Internet pages.

·         Key person in teacher-training Al Ain Men's College faculty on Blended Online Instructor's Course, a 16-week course on how to blend classroom (face-to-face) teaching with online components using WebCT.

·         Assist the Independent Learning Coordinator in promoting independent learning throughout the college.

·         Assist the other Library staff in the day-to-day operations of a college library.

Administrative Assistant - Administration, July 1997 – July 1999

         Worked in three Administration Departments to include:

Personnel Office (twice weekly)

·     Prepared college personnel salaries and special requests i.e. school fees for dependents, cash in lieu of annual vacation tickets, etc.

·     Devised a call-up system to remind staff when to renew passports, driving licenses, liquor licenses, etc.

·     Liaised with the Public Relations Officer regarding visa renewals and other government-related matters.

·     Assisted the Personnel Officer in the day-to-day operations of the personnel office.

Finance & Facilities Department (twice weekly)

·     Compiled and prepared reports regarding department use of stationeries and supplies as well as petrol consumption and use of college cars.

·     Maintained a database regarding stationery and college car use.

·     Assisted the Finance Officer and Finance Supervisor as required.

Student Services Department (once a week)

·     Assisted the Student Services staff in enrolling students or entering final grades into the computer.

·     Prepared or produced reports as requested by teachers or students regarding student grades, class schedules, etc.

·     Coordinated with private sector regarding special projects of the college, i.e. Open Day.

·     Sent report to sponsor companies about their students.

Sales Supervisor, Consumer Division, October 1996 – July 1997

·         Was in-charge of the Atlas Telecoms Consumer Division’s sales and ordering operations.

·         Led the sales team in the daily operations of the showroom.

·         Handled personnel issues i.e. staff motivation and disciplinary issues.

·         Coordinated with corporate accounts regarding sales, installation, maintenance and repairs of products.

·         Coordinated with principals regarding sales reports, product orders, and faulty reports and servicing.

·         Worked under a Sales Director, a deputy Sales Director, three Sales Managers and one Public Relations manager as their secretary.

·         Prepared correspondences to a variety of corporate and international clients and tour operators.

·         Confirmed room bookings, banquet and functions and coordinated these events with the proper department(s).

·         Co-designed flyers, brochures and ads with the supervision and guidance of the PR Manager.
