In ancient Egypt life was very different from what you and I know of today. People lived by strict rules of class and culture.You have been reading the Golden Goblet and working on this information in Social Studies.Now you are going to embark on a journey through Egypt by participating in this webquest. As you travel through pay close attention and use your new knowledge to create a well put together project.

Task

You are going to be part of a team of experts that will each be in charge of finding specific information about Egypt.There have been artifacts that have been discovered in a museum basement. The labels on the boxes were lost. It is your team's job find out whether the artifacts are genuine and a possible history that would go along with them. The only clue you have is that the artifacts were supposedly removed from the Sphinx and from Pyramids in Giza.

Process

To begin your quest. You need to click and print the objects that were unboxed in the museum. You must then decide which came from the Sphinx and which came from the Pyramids. You will select one of the following jobs:

Field Experts

Historian 1 Historian 2 Archaeologist 1 Archaeologist 2 Artist

AsHistorian 1 your job is to research the Sphinx. As Historian 2 your job is to research the Pyramid of Giza. As an Archaeologist 1 you are to research the excavation of the Sphinx. As an Archaeologist 2 you are to research the excavation of a Pyramid of Giza.

As the Artist it is your job to take the information and create artistic renditions of your teammates' work.
As you work as a team on this presentation ask yourselves the following questions to help guide you throught the task at hand.

  2. What was the purpose of the pyramids?
  3. How were they built?
  4. What does the interior of a pyramid look like?
  5. What materials were used to build the pyramids?
  6. What can be found in the pyramids?
  7. What was the purpose of the Sphinx?

Please feel free to use it with the reading of the novel the The Golden Goblet,by Eloise Jarvis McGraw.It can also be used during the teaching of Ancient Cultures units in the Social Studies Curriculum. There are no correct answers for the artifacts.
