Maubeuge

After a day visiting the World War I battle sites of the Butte de Montsec, the Argonne Forest, and the American military cemetary of Romagne sur Montfaucon, I headed NW to Maubeuge.
According to Truttman's book, the French constructed a 2nd line of defense behind the main line below Longuyon (Bretelle Pierrepont - Mangiennes) and Stenay (Barrage de la Neevon). Another line was built behind the Saar flood zone.
The line consisted of approximately 25 casemates, built by the CEZF (Commission d'Etude des Zones Fortifies). These STG-type casemates were begun in late 1935 and not completed before the German attack in May 1940.
The only casemate of this type that I found was designated by Truttman as #14 along the D102 between Brandeville and Murvaux.

I continued along D102 looking for other CEZF casemates but had no luck. There were some other blockhouses along D102 and in the area of Halles-les-Cotes and Beauclair (D30a)
