In the world outside of this evil box, I am known as Ryan Gavin Griffin. Born and raised in New England, I have lived in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Philidelphia, Long Island, NY, Tarpon Springs, Palm Harbor, and Clearwater Florida, Durango, Colorado, and now reside in Oxford, Colorado, on the Southern Ute Indian Reservation.
I have been an artist in one form or another for as long as I can remember. Whether it be with words, paint, ink or imagination, I have always created, and I believe in one form or another I always will. I credit my style to free form experimentation, and the influence of my choices in life that have trickled through the sieve of cognition and logic to find themselves in my work. So if a piece is troubled and dark, those are the feelings I was experiencing when making it. The same goes for the whimsical and light pieces, if you can find them, that is. While I don't subscribe to the paridigm that all artists must suffer in order to create, I do feel thus:
There can be no light without shadow, and to live forever in either will drive you mad.
I hold no credentials as a professional artist other than the merit of the work that I can show. A few years of art classes only taught me a few new techniques, I don't offer them as proof that I am an artist.
