The Free World Alliance has founded the FWA Academy in order to better train our officers. The FWA Academy is open to all interested races and life forms. In order to obtain a degree you must select a major and see your studies through. The Academy experience will not be easy, but for those who are dedicated and work hard, the rewards will be worth it. To reach your degree you must take no less than the required amount of years in schooling. A year consists of two semesters. We recommend 4 classes per semester. You may not earn a degree in less than the allotted time. After two full years of courses, in which you receive favorable grades, you will be promoted to the rank of Ensign. If your grades are not in good standing, you will not be promoted until you have shown satisfactory improvement. After you have received your degree in the field you choose, you may take any open position in the FWA to which your degree applies. Positions are available on Rigel 7, on the ships, and there are several teaching positions should you wish to apply for teaching credentials. Teaching credentials require an extra year of study and passing a teaching exam. If you choose to remain in school for five years, you will not only graduate with a degree in your field, but you will also receive the rank of Lieutenant Commander if your grades permit. In your extra year(s) of study you will learning more advanced concepts in your field, and choosing what position you would like to take after graduation. You will be given first pick of assignments and given special consideration to transferring positions. There are certain courses that are required regardless of the field you decide to earn your degree in, such as math, science, and research skills. One important part of meeting graduation requirements is on-hand training. You will be assigned a post on Rigel 7 giving you actual experience in your field. These assignments will be in addition to your studies and will take place in your final year of schooling (unless otherwise noted).
