| Greetings, my name is Vor and I serve Stormy and the FWA. Thanks for stopping by to chat about the FWA. Im not really here to recruit, the FWA does a great job of that without really trying. Im just going to tell you a little about it, so if you want to use the idea in your game, go ahead. I have lots of friends around that will be able to help you out with other information, I even heard Turgil complaining that Annoying had swiped one of his FWA maps, so be sure to talk to Annoying if youre interested in seeing the map of the FWA Academy on Rigel 7. Let me give you a little history behind the FWA. First, the initials stand for the Free World Alliance. The FWA was formed by Stormy when she realized there was no organization in our galaxy. Stormy is never one to pass up an opportunity to control something (oops...was that out loud...) so she took over this little trading town on Rigel 7, made a few additions and the FWA was born. Stormy is also not one to cheap out on a project, so the FWA has a lot of financing behind it. The Academy is kept in top form and is truly a nice place to visit. Most of the ships in the FWA fleet were pieced back together from wreckage found throughout space. In our game, we use a lot of ships from the Star Trek gaming books. Interestingly enough, we dont use a lot of the Star Trek races (we being die hard Star Trek fans, we felt that would be a little too weird.) We also thought it would be weird to have the Federation in charge, so in our gaming world, there was a huge war that destroyed the Star Treks Federation and a lot of the races...hence, the Star Trek ship wreckage that makes up most of the fleet. If your players are sick of staying on their planet fighting the same old hordes of boring monsters, you might try introducing space travel to them, and the FWA is an excellent way to do this. Some ideas: A FWA NPC Recruiter can meet your players and tell them about the FWA. Then your players could choose to attend the Academy to earn a position on one of the ships... Or your players planet could petition the FWA for membership and your player could become a diplomat and travel to other planets. A FWA ship could be stranded on your players home world and the crew could ask your players for assistance. There are lots of ways to introduce the idea to your players. The FWA should ultimately become a resource to your players, they should be able to use their connections within the FWA to obtain information and travel to new worlds. The FWA also becomes a resource to the DM/GM, anytime the game stalls the FWA could require the assistance of your players. The FWA is also a great way to introduce new players into your game. Now that Ive told you a little about how the FWA can be used to pick up your game, you might want to look around the web site to get more ideas. If you have magic users in your players party, youll want to check in with Stormy for spells that they will need to know to adapt to space travel. The FWA is a major part of our game, so you can expect to see lots of stuff added to this web site to support the FWA in your game. Also, if you haven't had a chance to speak to Verminaard, I would advise doing that now. He is a great source of information because he has been DMing for a long time. He will be able to explain using the different gaming systems together. I hope this information helps you, do come back again. |
