The Tanaka Monastery
The Tanaka Monastery is home to several powerful Monks, who have devoted their life to their training and the training of others who come to them.  The monastery is named after the Emperor of Tanaka, a man who died trying to bring peace and order to the land.  Many generations ago, the monks took in a young girl, Padmin Pan-Lung, and hid her from her family.  (It is believed that the Emperor's daughter, Padmin, was slain alongside her father.)  Now, Padmin is around 200 years old, a source of strength and wisdom to the monks.  Few people know of Padmins history, and those who do are sworn to protect the secret.  People often travel from far to speak to the wise Padmin, who is rumored to be able to see the future.

On the outskirts of the monastery lies a small village, mostly homes for wandering Sohei, warriors sworn to defend the monastery.

Players:  Monks do not use a family name and do not collect Honor.  Sohei characters have the option to choose a family history, but it is not required.
