I've set up this page to cover C and K
models, starting with 1973 as the base with the optional equipment offered
at that time. Then all subsequent years I've tried to note the major design
changes in appearance items. I've also tried to capture the optional equipment
that was added for that particular year, I've tried to list most of the
options, but I know that there are many not listed. It would take an extensive
list, to note all the different options, nor do I try to list the dealership
installed options. If you see anything that is in error, please e-mail
me, I'm not a professional web page designer, just a guy that loves his

1973
The beginning: The 1973 truck line was a drastic change in body
style from previous years, it was such a successful design that it was
basically used up until 1987, then another radical changed occurred. Other
than the obvious changes for the body, their were some mechanical changes
as well, C10 models had their rear coil springs replaced with leaf, four-wheel
drives (K models) received longer springs all around, and the Full Time
4 wheel drive was introduced.

1975
New changes: The front nose was changed, the headlight bezels were
painted gray instead of black, front turn signals lens changed from amber
to clear and the Grille was revised. The HEI was introduced, and the Auxiliary
tank switch was moved to the dash, for trucks equipped. The Custom and Cheyenne Super packages were dropped and the Scottsdale and Silverado packages
were added.
Engine: 400 cid offered on K10, K20 & K30
Options added: Optional Front and Rear bumpers with impact strip,
cruise control and fresh air duct going from air breather to core support
was offered.

1976
New changes: Virtually nothing change from the 75 models, except
the grille emblem indicating engine size was deleted, and the instrument
panel was revised, the amp meter was replaced by a voltmeter and the speedometer
had KM/H added in light blue. The fuel gauge face also changed, blue graphics were added to match the new speedometer graphics.
Engine: No changes
Options added: Special trim package for the 61/2' stepside's,
choice of four solid color with stripes.

1977
New changes: The grille was changed again, and the trim inlay color
was changed from black to yellow. The interior door panels were revised
and for the Cheyenne and the Silverado packages, the tigerwood wood grain
was replaced with chestnut wood grain.
Engine: 305-2 cid offered on C10
Options added: Power windows, power door locks, hood emblem,
hood lock, exterior decor package (fleetside only, caries secondary color
to the hood, with strips), and the "CHEVY SPORT" decor package (fleetside/stepside
short bed only, special hood and side striping with CHEVY SPORT lettering).

1978
New changes: This year line up stayed pretty close to 77 except
the trim inlay color was changed back to black, and the chestnut wood grain
was replaced with brushed aluminum. Steering wheel was revised, a bigger
horn button was incorporated, and the mechanical oil pressure gauge was
replaced with an electric unit, windshield wiper switch was changed, to accommodate new option.
Engine: No changes
Options added: Wiper delay offered.

1981
New changes: This year kicked off with the most major changes since
the 1973. A new aerodynamic front clip ws designed, a narrow hood and fenders
were added, a redesigned bumper with turn signal added, double square headlights
were included with front change. The classic chrome side molding was replaced
with a single molding, on vehicles equipped. Interior was also changed,
a new squarish dash and matching door panels were incorporated and seat
belts were changed.
Engine: The 305 was now offered for the K10 models.
Options added: A resume feature added to cruise control.
