SUCCESS IN LIFE
(Jewish answer)

Success in life, what does it mean? First, we have to ask, "For what do you live on the earth?"

1. For what do you live on the earth?

Jewish people have existed for more than 3000 years. In that time hundreds of nations have disappeared from the earth. Sometimes we know only their names. Assimilation and low childbirth rate cause the threat of a declining number of Jewish people.

For me it is important to save Jews. It is a real possibility that after two-three generations the people will forget about us. Individually, Jews could become connected by a link between the past and future on the Jewish tree of life. We should not become a dry branch on the tree. The orthodox Jews follow that goal well. Their children receive religious education, etc.

2. What does "success in life" mean?

The capabilities of man are very limited. He can't drink a bottle of cognac all at once (that doesn't pertain to a Russian man.) Obtaining success in life means having enough resources to lead a Jewish life (live in a Jewish region, keeping Kashrus, giving religious education to children).

If G-d gave you more resources than necessary for you, you should direct the excess towards the economy of Israel and may be later you will want to try to emigrate there.
