Seeking Spiritual Way of America
(10 years in America)
On the 25th of April, 2001 it will be ten years our family came to America.
I would like to write about our achievement sand expressions. Since that
time our life has changed forever.
1. We began to study English in the different colleges (1991-1995): Hebrew
college, Bunker Hill Community College, Roxbury College. Now we visit
two English classes and study English with help of handsome volunteer,
attorney Steven Sigel (from 1993).
Our teacher in English are Daniel Smolens very famous of Boston Colleges
(from 1995).
Michell Minot is a schoolteacher with much experience.
Sandy Novak is wonderful teacher, who teaches us to create compositions.
2. We began to study Hebrew and Judaism. Now we visit four groups studying
Judaism, Torah and Hebrew.
Our teachers in Hebrew and Judaism are Samuel Volchek, an architect, very
well educated in Judaism, Chassidism and Torah,
Ora Genkina, a physicist, is a good specialist with very good experience
in teaching Judaism and Torah.
Dima Kazhdan, a professor of Harvard University in mathematics, e educated
as a rabbi and very knowledgeable in Jewish religious issues and Torah.
Lenija Litwak is a student of MIT and very knowledgeable in Hebrew
We very much appreciative all our teachers.
3. We wrote a few articles and book about our last life in the former
Soviet Union (in Russian and English) and published them like some issues.
We came to believe in G-d, and after visiting a few different synagogues
(Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox), we close an Orthodox Synagogue of
the Chassidic direction.
During those ten years our daughter and granddaughter got married in 1994
and 1995, and we became great-grandparents of three beautiful grandchildren.
In 1997 we became citizens of America, and we are very proud about it.
In 1999 we, my husband and I, had a huppa, our second wedding, in accordance
with Jewish tradition.
Our granddaughter and her family keep struck Jewish religious tradition.
They keep Kosher and follow all commandments in the Torah. My husband
and I, and my daughter keep kosher too. But we only aspire; try to fulfill
all the commands.
We are very happy to live in America, our new country. G-d bless America!
