ARMORED CORE 3
The sixth game in the vaunted Agetec series. You are a Raven, a mercenary who pilots an Armored Core(AC). For those of you who don't have any idea what I'm talking about(though I'm sure you do), an Armored core is basically a big robotic vehicle. You complete missions and fight in an AC Arena to get money for buying parts to customize your AC, so that you can get more money completing missions. The game has 50 missions and several multi-tiered arenas, so it'll take a while to finish.
Sound:
The sound is great. The voice acting is excellent; even the screams of the AC pilots that you ace sound somewhat believable. Lots of explosions, lasers, and gunshot noises run through the game; and while I'm no weapons specialist, the sounds are good. The music is good, and some stages will actually have you jamming. Most of the time, though, you're too busy shredding enemies to worry about it. But it is there, and it's all good.

Graphics:
There are lots of things to see in this game; from dank sewers and futuristic cities reminiscient of Zone of the Enders, to snowy tundra, wastelands, ancient ruins, and lush forests. All of it looks fairly realistic and cool. The AC designs are very nice. You can tell one AC from another, and you don't seem to be holding the same gun no matter what you pick(you know, if it is a different type of gun...) Explosions are very good, but for one thing: When was the last time you saw something fade away(like all at once) when it exploded? I'm nitpicking, but you have to do that when you rate games.

Gameplay:
This is a well made game. From Software(the publisher) really listened to the fans. Armored Core 2:Another Age was, in my opinion, almost too hard. There was no Arena, missions seemed impossible, and the gamewas overall frustrating. AC3 really fixes these problems. The game is much easier now. It's not really easy, just challenging enough without making you try to suppress your rage just enough so you don't hurl your expensive DUALSHOCK2 controller into the wall, shattering it into a billion glistening fragments. The Arena is back, and it's fun. One finds a solid balance alternating between the Arena and mission completion(as they will lock you out of the Arena if you don't complete some missions after awhile), and buying parts. One major snafu. It simply is too confusing to sell your parts from the garage(you have to push a special button to sell a part), as opposed to selling your parts at the shop like all AC veterans are used to. You can hire partners for missions now, and they are not stupid either. I think they just rehash the AI from the Arena battles. But that extra cannon fodd--*ahem* I mean, uh, ally(yeah, that's it, that's the ticket...)can come in handy sometimes. Versus mode was about the only unflawed section of AC2AA; and this one carries the tradition on. Three words: FOUR PLAYER MATCHES!!! Nuff said?
