Del Piero's Great Return With Persol
1999

As
Alex knows, when you start well, you're already halfway through the project.
So, while waiting for his great return scheduled for September, he's entering
the field with a new look: a very glamorous, effervescent image. His glasses?
Persol,
of course.
Free
and easy models with a strong temperament, designed to follow the facial
features and emphasise the wearer's personality.
Persol's
new campaign interprets Del Piero while telling its own story at the same
time. Very fashionable black and white images that transmit a feeling of
vitality and attractiveness; rectangular, lightweight eyeglasses with important
bows and Persol arrows that exuberantly describe a young man of character,
with a vivacious, positive soul, and sense of awareness as regards his
responsibilities and capabilities and - why not? - his charm.
A champion
possessing such remarkable inventiveness couldn't help but relate to the
ingenious inventiveness of the unmistakable Persol collection which has
always been synonymous with style, just as he couldn't help but "marry"
a trademark so admired for its exceptional mix of creativity, class and
distinctiveness by such great sports champions as Manuel Fangio, Alberto
Tomba and Alesi, to name a few.
The
collaboration, which began in May of last year, continues. We'll see you
in the best optical shops.

Alessandro
Del Piero will be the new testimonial of Luxottica Group's Persol collection
for the next two years.
Persol
eyewear, which has always been worn by great sport and show business stars
(Jean Alesi and Alberto Tomba, Ornella Muti and Maria Grazia Cucinotta
to name but a few), as of today can number among its testimonials the most
representative personage in the Italian football: Alessandro Del Piero.
The
young champion from Treviso, the most skilful player acting in the Italian
team and in Juventus, is now getting ready to face the France '98 World
Championship as a promising protagonist. His simple and elegant way of
being matches well with the historical features of Persol's eyewear collection.
Alessandro
Del Piero expresses the attributes of an eyewear collection that has always
combined class and style. Persol, on its side, is the Luxottica Group's
collection that reflects the most this great athlete's way of being.
Persol's
story starts in 1917, when Giuseppe Ratti founded the company. In 1995,
Persol was taken over by Luxottica Group. Now in the story of this great
brand name enters also Alessandro Del Piero, who will have an additional
weapon to bewitch his adversaries: Persol's arrow, the eyewear that will
always be with him in his everyday life.
