Census figures link
I was all set to charge right off into writing all about how minorities really aren't so minority anymore and we should drop the term, and then I actually looked at the numbers. According to the 2000 census, Caucasians still account for an estimated 80.7% of the entire US population. Wow. And get this... African American: 12.7%.

12.7!!! That's nuts. It's so small! That's mind-boggling to me, really. I guess I always assumed somewhere in the back of my mind that with social equality came numerical equality, or something closer to it. I know, that makes absolutely no sense when you think about it, but I never DID think about it. I grew up in Upstate New York farm country. Thinking back on it, I remember maybe one black kid in my grade in High School out of a class of around 100. So yeah, our area was lily white. I guess I always figured there were much denser ethnic populations in other places, which there are of course, but not to the extent I thought. I'm really surprised to the point where I'm almost doubting the numbers. Almost.

Hathor: I wonder what the figures are for peoples with animal heads. We weren't on that census.
Sekhmet: Oh dear god. We're GODS, dumbass! Of course we're not on the friggin census!
Hathor: Well there should be one for us then.
Thoth: *eyes light up* Oooh, iiiiiinteresting...
Isis: Oh no, we've lost him now.
Thoth: If I tabulate this, and correlate that with this over here... and add that... eeeeeheehee, a new project!
Magickstyle: A note to readers- keep on the lookout for Thoth's Deity Census.
Isis: Don't hold your breath, he may take a while.
